More than ever, music is something that is really exciting and special to those of us who are looking to live the best lives that we can in today’s world. But, it’s really interesting to see how music has always told some sort of story. Whether it’s something simple, like a love story between two kids, or it’s a political statement about something that is going on in the world today, it can be really profound and get that message into our minds and hearts.

We live in a time where music is being used in order to let people know that they are here and that they are passionate about whatever it is that they are singing about. Political statements in music are not new – from protest songs of the 60’s to “This is America” now, there’s a lot being said using the power of music. But, as we tell stories and see what there is to be done as we look at what people are saying to and about us.

Music in 2018 is here to help people connect with each other and with all sorts of ideas. There is so much going on around us that it can be hard to get through the noise – but music is able to do that effectively. While music videos aren’t as popular as they used to be (probably due to the fact that stations that used to show music videos really don’t do anything related to music videos anymore), they can still be something that people pass around online and share so that new music is able to be enjoyed.

The fact is, music and music videos have some pretty unique ways in which to tell stories. The lyrics, like the lyrics that you read in poetry, can be woven in ways that allow people to see and engage with music in ways that they may not have been able to otherwise. There are a lot of people out there who try to share their thoughts and feelings and, because of the way that music can get through the cracks, they may realize that something that they thought they knew was not correct or that they didn’t have as much information about a situation as they thought they did. That sort of revelation can only be from music, right?

Look at what is out there and listen to the words. As 2018 music becomes more and more engaging, it’s not surprising that there are more of us who are looking to find all of the best in music no matter what year that it may be. Listening to those stories and sharing them with the people who know and understand them can help you to connect with people more. It will be very interesting to see what happens with storytelling in music from 2019 and beyond as well. We’ll have to wait and see what comes from artists in the coming year, won’t we?
